Bastrykin sends experienced investigators, forensic specialists to Khabarovsk Territory to assist in inquiry into attacks on FSB officers, shooting club (Part 2)
MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - Experienced investigators and forensic specialists from the Russian Investigative Committee's two departments have been sent to the Khabarovsk Territory to assist in the inquiry into the attacks on local FSB employees and a shooting club in Khabarovsk, Svetlana Petrenko, spokesperson for the Committee, told Interfax.
Investigative Committee head Alexander Bastrykin has given relevant instructions, she said.
The Russian Investigative Committee Department on Military Investigations for the Eastern Military District has launched a criminal inquiry under several articles of the Russian Criminal Code, including 'murder of two or more persons', 'illegal arms trafficking' and "attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer'.
According to investigators, an unknown individual walked into the public office of the FSB (Federal Security Service) Department in the Khabarovsk Territory on April 21 and started shooting at people. One FSB employee and one visitor were killed and another male visitor injured. Prior to that, the attacker had stolen a short-barreled shotgun and two pistols from a shooting club in the city of Khabarovsk. He shot dead an instructor in the club.
Investigative operations are presently under way in order to find out exactly what happened. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
